Production details

Digital textile printing technology allows designs and images to be printed straight from the computer screen onto fabric. CAT’s process is bespoke, so it’s recommended that you call the studio for a brief discussion before placing your first order. CAT are able to print onto silks, cottons, linens and blends of those fabrics and can print anything from a 10cm length up to hundreds of meters. If you’re ready to have some fabric printed you can either send a digital file or a piece of traditional artwork which CAT centre will be able to digitise. CAT’s clients include students, commercial businesses and the general public who are producing anything from fabrics for fashion right through to wall hangs and artworks and interior products.

History

CAT Centre was established in 2000 with a Research and Development Grant from the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council. The centre provides cutting edge facilities for textile design education and investigates the aesthetic, technical and commercial opportunities presented by digital textile print as well as operating a commercial service bureau for industry and individuals. The process creates exciting opportunities for customised design and allowing photographic quality reproduction onto fabric.
