STEAMhouse houses co-working space, project spaces and the Production Space – a substantial makerspace with equipment, and specialist technicians, to support prototyping and product development on different scales across digital, wood, metal and print. Small to medium sized businesses - including sole traders like self-employed artists, designers and makers - who have an idea or product they would like to prototype can apply to be STEAMhouse members. Members access STEAMhouse's facilities through a number of programmes including the Open and Product Routes, which have been designed to support designers, inventors, engineers, artists, games designers, coders and other creative makers to innovate, prototype and develop new skills, and offer up to 12 months free access to the Production Space workshops and the co-working space alongside a programme of business development workshops.

STEAMhouse opened its doors in May 2018. Developed through a partnership between Birmingham City University and Eastside Projects it is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Arts Council England. We aim to bring inventors, makers, entrepreneurs, artists, designers, engineers and craftspeople together to develop new ideas and products side by side, creating connections between talented people from different backgrounds in the arts, science, technology, engineering and maths.
