Video: Make Works Derby and Derbyshire visits Roger Waterhouse in Ashover
With over 40 years experience of wood turning, Roger has a wealth of knowledge and passion for his craft and the processes and materials encompassed within this. Roger has enjoyed working with wood from a young age, producing pieces of figurative and abstract sculpture simply for the joy he had of working with the adaptability and flexibility of wood. He is fascinated by the way which you can reveal the hidden beauty within each individual piece of wood, and tell its story through this. He considers this elements right from the beginning, and often from viewing the standing tree, and how it is cut locally.
