History

Eggleston Steel Ltd is a steel stockholder and is proud to be one of the oldest family owned businesses in Derby. The current Managing Director Richard Hewitt is the fourth generation to run the business. The company was originally founded by Joseph E Hunt in 1809 as an ironmonger. Since then the company has continued to expand and covers a 50-mile radius from their premises on Alfreton Road. Since moving to the current premises in 2003 the company has seen their turnover increase from £2.5 million to £8 million and trebled their employee head count from 20 to 57. In 2007 the company invested in a laser profiling machine and 10 years on the company now have two lasers and one plate processing plasma machine. Eggleston Steel is in its 212th year and they continue to supply their products and services into the Fabrication, Construction and Engineering sectors.
