Dryad Education has over 100 years of experience supplying educational establishments worldwide with leading art, textile and design & technology brands, including our best-selling Specialist Crafts range. Founded in 1907 by Harry Peach and his friend Benjamin Fletcher, Dryad is a name known to many in the UK and now globally. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement they originally designed and manufactured cane furniture. The business was a huge success and by 1912, it went from a task force of four to fifty and moved into larger premises with a showroom in Leicester. In 1918, Dryad Handicrafts was established to supply materials, instruction leaflets and design ideas, and after witnessing the benefits of crafting, Dryad started selling to schools. By 1936, Dryad Handicrafts went on to become the largest supplier of craft materials in the world. Dryad’s venture into the art materials market came in 1972 when the business was taken over by Reeves & Sons. Dryad’s dominance in the education industry continued to grow with the introduction of Specialist Crafts in 1991. The brand was designed to satisfy art teachers and students, who want high quality art products at sensible prices. Having set up in the UAE in 2015 we have become the market leader of educational resource supplies. Our Art and DT brands aside, we have added to the portfolio an additional 9 catalogues who are represented directly by Dryad Education and in doing so are approved vendors of Gems Education, Aldar Education, and Innoventures Education to name but a few.
