Their workshop in Dennistoun is fully equipped to enable them to undertake a wide range of projects. 10kH work with commissions ranging from bespoke pieces and one-offs through to sample production runs and offer clients advice on the fabrics available that will best suit the chair style and also their life-style. 10kH are committed to sourcing and using unique and beautiful textiles, exploring mixtures of textures and colours and maintaining a high quality, hand crafted service. 10kH endeavours to master the skills of both traditional and modern techniques and to foster collaboration with like minded others in the creative industries. 10kH work with a range of pieces in need of (re)upholstery. For example: mid -century design chairs including brand names such as Parker Knoll and Ercol.
Silvia and Rose met at college, which was a career change for both: a new direction with an opportunity to learn new skills and be creative. Upholstery is all about giving furniture a second chance; the old made new with contemporary style and flair. Therefore, at 10kH the emphasis, as you would expect is on attention to detail and creativity. When it came to choosing a name for their partnership Silvia and Rose agreed that 10kH summed up the ethos they wanted to create. The premise is that practice can lead to perfection in a chosen skill. Add to that their determination for proficiency and the passion that they share for transforming and customising any neglected, tired or currently unloved chairs into unique creations then you have the spirit of 10kH.
