Make Works are opening up our process.
Having run Make Works for just over a year, we have learnt a lot.
We know how to find factories, we know what types of manufacturers are interested in being listed, how to list them, what sort of processes are in demand - and we are finally somewhat fluent in the languages of manufacturers, arts funders, and tech startups.
We’ve also come to realise where we want this project to go, and how we might be able to get there.
As part of that, we are opening the platform up, and allowing more people to get involved in the factory finding process. Over the coming months, you can expect to see our filming lists, and lists of manufacturers in Scotland that we havn't had a chance to visit yet. We have also begun teaching other groups how to do this factory mapping research in countries around the world. We are doing this, because we want to make Make Works as comprehensive as possible. We need the help of everyone that uses us, to improve it for everyone else.
Right now, you can now recommend manufacturers for us to list on Make Works.
Our new project, making.make.works will be fully documenting our process over the next twelve months, as we make Make Works financially sustainable. You can read things like our budgets and funding application forms - as well as opportunities to give us feedback on our new products and services.
