This week, we've interviewed Gabriella DiTano who runs Risotto Studio, a risograph design and print studio based in Glasgow.
On our new webshop!
I had my first shot on a Risograph whilst studying in New York, and fell in love with the process pretty quickly. From here I started obsessing over zines, and indie publishers like Nieves books. Coming back to Glasgow, I got myself a Riso to work on personal projects, and it all grew from there...printing for friends, then local bands and bars to making it official and setting up shop.
There are so varied! The main ones are: galleries for publications, artists for limitied edition print runs, local venues for posters and print promo, and the wild cards that want our mad patterns on their bits and pieces.
RISO printing has been going through a resurgence over the last few years, and many creatives are concerned that it is a fad that will be short lived. But actually, when you strip the ‘trend’ aspect out of the equation, the printer offers designers four key things: an affordable print method, quick turnaround times, creative/experimental approaches and distinct results.
Get on Make Works :-) !
