Richard is open to hearing your ideas and working collaboratively on these, he describes himself as a creator and maker and although specialising in jewellery, he has also worked on large-scale commissions and artworks. Richard also runs workshops to teach the process of jewellery-making, and to develop your designs and ideas when working directly with the materials.
Richard is based in Belper where he has been working for more than 35 years in the creative sector as a sculptor, artist, designer, jeweller, teacher and musician. With a love for his local area, much of Richard's work takes some inspiration from his surroundings in Derbyshire. With a passion for learning new techniques and working with innovative materials, Richard is always pushing the boundaries of his field, and is keen to pass on this knowledge to the next generation of makers. Richard’s practice is also concerned with recycling pieces of jewellery: melting them down and re-working the materials to create new pieces, whether this be jewellery again, or larger pieces of artwork or furniture.
