History

Read started his engineering career when he was 13, working in the rail industry and eventually taking on the training of the apprentices, before rising to workshop foreman whilst at LOC maintenance - a company which provided bespoke steelwork for Rolls Royce. Starting work at Derby City Council as an education instructor, he began becoming involved in work experience opportunities in 2012. Since founding Engineered Learning, they have had 8 years of success stories in helping vulnerable youths who would otherwise have fallen onto a wrong path in life, and see each educational opportunity as a manufacturing opportunity, and vice versa. Their aim is to increase the employability of all their students, and last year partnered with Derby County Community Trust to provide work experience for 16-24 year olds.
