Q Mass are precision metal machinists, creating highly detailed components from whole pieces of metal. They manufacture in low volume to customer specification.
Verified by Make Works Scotland June 2016
Q-Mass can take a piece of metal and turn it into virtually any shape or form with precise detail. The company generally do one-off or small volumes of production. Each machine has different capabilities and the team can advise the best machine for the component size. For example, on the CNC machines there is a maximum machine chuck or bed size. The largest component possible is 6m long. Typical clients are in the oil & gas, energy or engineering sectors, though they are looking to work with other sectors in the future.

Video: Make Works visits Q-Mass in East Kilbride
Q-Mass was established in 2006 to support the manufacturing requirements of the oil and gas sector as a specialist in precision machining of customer designed components. Starting with only a few employees, this expanded as owner re-investment increased the number of specialist machining operators and equipment within the factory. In January 2016, Q-Mass moved to a larger facility based in East Kilbride to expand into a 57,000 sq.ft factory.
