How to find local manufacturers with Make Works

Make Works is a digital platform listing high-quality manufacturers, workshops and material suppliers. We help you find fabricators in your local area for projects and products, the first thing you need to do is select your region which you can do at the top right of any page on the website.

The best way to use Make Works is to search for specific processes, materials or machines.

When you are searching Make Works, it is often easier to find relevant results if you know what processes or materials are involved. You can then search for factories that work with these, or who have machines available to work on various materials. Our filters help you pin-point a location, but it can be a good idea to start with a wide search to find all of our listed companies who may very well be able to help you out.

If you are looking for inspiration, or are interested in researching local manufacturing then have a look at Make Works stories.

Some search tips:

 - Check your spelling.
- Try searching for the material or process rather than the finished product
- Make your search less specific to see more results
- Try synonyms or other related terms

Example searches:

- metal cutting in glasgow
- letterpress business cards
- pattern cutting for leather jackets
- machine knitting textiles
- wooden boxes

Still haven't found what you are looking for, and think it should be listed? Contact Make Works and we can put it on our 'to find' list.

If you don't know the specific term for a manufacturing process or material then you can learn from our production guides.

We are a start up and so are always keen to hear about problems using our tools so that we can fix them. Let us know!
