At Make Works Derby & Derbyshire we are driven by the bespoke, forward-thinking making and manufacturing happening on our doorstep, and are driven by co-producing opportunities to build connections, share knowledge and support growth within our region. By working collaboratively with local companies, professional film maker
Andy Taylor-Smith, and Derby Museums staff and
volunteers we aim to build these networks and promote change through our Make Works region.

Our region is filled with a rich and imaginative range of making, from traditional crafts such as knitting, pottery, glass-blowing and wood-working, to more contemporary processes such as, digital textiles, laser cutting and upcycling. We are inspired by the people and stories behind these companies, their passion and drive to show others the work they are doing and support them in getting involved themselves. In Derby and Derbyshire it is this sense of community and enthusiasm which we are keen to share globally to map the manufacturing landscape in our locality.
The films featured on Make Works Derby & Derbyshire are on display at the
Museum of Making and curated around the Make Works material taxonomies which help us to navigate our collections of making. These draw connections between what is happening today, and the historical landscape of Derby & Derbyshire.
