L.J. Millington Silversmiths specialise in spinning, polishing and fabrication of shapes in silver, copper and brass sheet from 0.2mm to 1.2mm thick. They offer a bespoke service and are able to manage everything from the initial design stage through all production processes to completion. They like to work in close collaboration with clients to ensure they get what they want, when they want it, at a price agreeable to all. An understanding of the processes involved is helpful but not essential as Millingtons work with a wide range of professional clients and can soon tell if they can be of assistance or not.
L J Millington is a family owned business based in Birmingham. It was founded in 1966 by Leonard Millington who was still actively involved in the running of the business until July 2012 at the age of 83. The company continues to trade as a partnership, the principals being Leonard’s wife, Mary and his son Steven. Their core business has always been the ancient process of metal spinning and they specialise in producing silver giftware. Their highly skilled craftsmen have, between them, over 150 years’ experience in the silversmithing trade and they are able to offer all the traditional, and many of the new, emerging, silversmithing techniques.
