(Big!) Project News
👋 wonderful Make Works people!
After 7 years of working on this project, I have decided to move on from my role as project director. Whilst I really appreciate and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to run such an organisation, it is now time to bring fresh ideas and energy into the platform, and for me to take on new challenges.
This is a big change for everybody working with the organisation, but my move doesn’t change the aims and focus of the project: to enable people to access local manufacturing, workshops, makers and materials - something which is now happening in Scotland and across the brilliant Make Works regions in Birmingham, the UAE, Sweden and Derby.
The priority is to be open with and communicate positively with everyone who uses, is featured on, has invested in and is working with Make Works; primarily ensuring that the information and content we provide is always available publicly, and accessible for the creative community.
Whilst nothing will be changing on the site, and for activity in the Make Works regions - I have paused the majority of Make Works activity in Scotland for the time being. For example, we will be leaving the studio over the next couple months and filming, events etc are on a temporary hiatus.
I’m also making sure a hard copy of the database and content is exported and then stored in various public locations across the country.
We are now exploring options for Make Works’ future form and direction. The intention is to find a new home and leadership for the project by October 2018; whether with another individual, collective or organisation. This can be local, national or international; 🌐the most important thing is that the project is passed onto others who share in the values, belief, passion and skill set to make the project work.
If you wish to be part of this conversation, and potentially offer a new home to Make Works Scotland, or Make Works HQ, please do let us know.
Finally, it has been an absolute JOY to work on Make Works, and the biggest of thank you’s to the epic and brilliant team and supporters that help to make it happen. You know who you are, THANK YOU. 🙌❤️
We will be in touch soon with more factory films and news, just bear with us, and thank you again,
